Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy and have fitted a full set of tyres for cars?
I have a Peugeot 206 (2001) LX 1.4.
Thanks

I'm always recommending remoulds on these boards, phone around get some quotes. Remoulds should cost around 20 - 22 pounds each.
But my last tyres were some Ukrainian ones called Roma or something like that and they were 20 quid each, I believe they are new but they could be remoulds too. They are a bit noisey but I can live with that.
You just have to phone around, give your tyre size ask them what their cheapest budget tyre is then ask them if they do remoulds.
Make sure the price is inclusive of VAT, valve, balance & disposal of old tyres.0 -
Tyres are one thing I wouldn't skimp on on a car! They're your only point of contact/ grip with the road and are worth spending a little extra on. Decent new tyres can be bought for the price of a tank of fuel. Remoulds are a risk as they can have sidewall damamge that you can't always see, they also don't last as long so may be false economy.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0

Remoulds are no more a risk than any tyre. Remoulds are type approved now so they have to be of the same standard as new tyres.
My remoulds last about 18,000 miles. I've had loads and loads of them and never had a problem. They are also good for the environment.
The arguement against remoulds is like the old view of Skoda cars - outdated.0 -
What are remoulds and how can they have the same grip as original tyres? Just curious, that's all, as I've never had remoulds.spacey0

Remoulds have new rubber treads put on an old carcass. New rubber = same grip as a new tyre. "part worns" are the best for grip but are a waste of money imo.
Remoulds use 66% less oil in the production compared with a new tyre.0 -
I suggest you look on ebay if you are prepared to travel and pick up a set of tyres. I found a set of Michelin tyres brand new on steel wheels for £80 for a Citreon ZX I had, and I suspect that you dont have alloys as you are looking for a budget. Someone out there will have bought flash alloys and cant give their old tyres away.
My tyres were new and balanced all I had to do was jack them up and replace them one by one, and take the old ones to the dump for free disposal.
Fiesta, Citroen ZX and Pug 206/306 tyres all should fit your car. This signature is not mine!0 -
I've used a firm called Blackcircles in the past. Tyres on mine are specials and retail at approx £240 each
Blackcircles are an internet based company who send a mobile van around to replace the tyres while the car is in your drive.
They saved me £60 each on my tyres....... not an inconsiderable amount. And they were from the same manufacturer.0 -
for mainly town/local driving i recommend remoulds. if you do a lot of motorway miles then i would stretch for new tyres.
i have used remoulds at high speeds on motorways with sucess.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I'd certainly have remoulds over any part-worn tyre (these are highly suspect, you don't know if that tyre's been in an accident, why it came off the old car etc).
However, given that good quality "budget" tyres like Kumho are not that much more expensive than remoulds, I think the extra few pounds is money well spent. Nothing inherently wrong with remoulds but they just aren't cheap enough IMO.
National Tyres also do 2-for-1 offers from the budget wings of well-known tyre companies.0 -
If you can get hold of a Costco card go for a make called Kormaran, good vale for money.0
