I have applied one on monday and another one today, all through the branch. I just did another application online and it says they will make a decision within 14 days <- is it likely to go through or it actually means a rejection?

Yes. All 6 paid out on the same day.

Refused a 3rd £5 account online so made a branch application. Success.
  • Opened 3 a/cs online today, funded No 1 with £1,003 by faster payment from external, transferred £1002 from No 1 to No 2, and then transferred £1001 from No 2 to No 3.

Then I set up a "payee" on No 3 so as to be able to make withdrawals back to my external account - hoping to make 2X£500 faster payment withdrawls. Received an email confirming that the "payee" had been established and stating that it was available to make payments.

Then tried to make a £500 withdrawal to the "payee" - only to receive a message stating "Sorry, payments aren't available on this account".

Anyone else experienced this and/or know why this should be? Could it be because the account was only opened today and Halifax don't allow "payments" until the a/c has been open for some period (days? weeks?)? Could it be because Halifax won't let you withdraw a faster payment receipt on the day of receipt? Might it somehow be tied up with whatever it is that causes some people's experiences of money disappearing from the a/c for 48 hours and then reappearing?

    Thanks.

Happen to monitor my three Reward A/Cs most days and noticed something odd.
One account I had funded with £1001 a few days ago and subsequently left just £1 in has just been set to £0 with no transactions recorded.....how can this happen? I am quite sure I have got my facts right. I will check again tomorrow after their nightly update run. Anyway refunded the account again to trigger the debit card. This is my third £5 Reward account.
Nothing to do with previous msg posted earlier today.
So do check your accounts remain as you expect them.

I think you might find the account names are just saying "Current Account",
tommorow when you log on they should say "Reward Current Account". But I bet your money will dissapear for a few day's like mine did and then
re-appear magically... Like mine did, I bet then you can FP it back out
of halifax. So dont panic fizzypop. Stay cool if this happens.

I opened my account yesterday and had the same thing happen, would let me set up a new payee, but not actually send anything. Today however it does let me send payments. If you have another HBOS account you can internally transfer the money today and send it from there if you want.

I think this would correct itself overnight
  • Is it just me, or do other posters cringe every time someone says “they are paying into A/C No1 then immediately transferring into Account No 2 then 3, and so on within seconds.

This is a great account with a brilliant return and, as has already been stated on this thread, surely Halifax will catch on to the way we are abusing these accounts especially when some are leaving the money in the accounts for literally seconds.

I just wish people would leave the money in each account at least over night because the more we transfer between accounts within nano seconds the closer we get to The Halifax changing the Terms and Conditions and withdrawing the free Fivers.

    Just a thought,

There again I always was a worrier.
