People who push in!

I have just returned from a trip to Barcelona with Easyjet, I have no complaint with Eastjet whatsoever as we had bargain flights and everything went according to plan. The thing that makes me really mad is people who insist on pushing in during boarding - We always ensure we check onto our flight with plenty of time to spare, so we get an early boarding number - i.e. between 1-30, so why when the flight is called to board numbers 1-30, is there a mass crush towards the gate with everyone from boarding card 1 to 200+ and even when you are standing in the queue you get people pushing in front of you trying to get to the front - heres the thing - CHECK IN EARLIER IF YOU WANT TO PICK YOUR SEAT!!!!!! We would all like to turn up at the last minute and get on first - what makes you more important?

Vent over, I feel better now.

I had this a LOT when having to go back and forth to Amsterdam. If easyjet are going to have boarding in this way then they really should be telling people who haven't got cards 1-30 to sit back down, and enforcing it strongly.

Now you know why I don't like sleazy jet ... cheap and nasty prices give you cheap and nasty service from cheap and nasty staff.

Also, why is that that some people think that their bag will come off the plane quicker if they stand closer to the baggage reclaim belt. I stand well back and wait until the animals have left then simply lift my bag....although if I am in a bad mood or in a hurry, I will grab my bag through a miniscule gap and pull the bag forcing people to move.

Do you mean when you first get to the airport or when you are getting on the plane? I always make sure I turn up at the airport at least 2 hours before bording.

If its when you are getting on the plane I usually let everyone queue in line and I just sit down and wait till there is no queue (near the end).

You already have your seat reserved so no chance of queue jumpers getting better seats (is this the same with budget airlines? I've never been on one). You will not get to the destination quicker if you are the first person in the queue compared to the last.

I find it funny when people run to the gate as soon as the their flight has been called and then look stressed for having to wait on their feet for so long.
  • No, unfortunately it doesn't work the same with budget airlines - or certainly not Easyjet anyway - you are given a boarding number and when you get on the plane you can sit where you like. The theory behind calling boarding passes 1-30 first is that if you have managed to get yourself out of bed at 4.30am to check in when they open as opposed to having the extra time in bed, you get first choice on where you sit. I am not the best traveller in the world and prefer to sit over the wing, which is why I make sure I get there early. I just found it hard to believe how ignorant people are - even when we were walking down the tunnel that leads onto the aircraft people were trying to scurry past.

Then at the other end everyone's pushing and shoving to get off and get to the baggage reclaim - this I find hysterical as it doesn't matter who gets there first, you still have to wait for the luggage to be unloaded, unless of course you have the people on your plane that at check in have been successful in proving that their bag is small enough to take on board as hand luggage!! We watched in amazement as a woman, who was so determined that her rucksack was small enough to be taken on as hand luggage, had forced and squeezed it into the 'bag measurer' only to find that she couldn't get it back out again - she was red in the face, puffing and panting and I am really surprised she never stuck her foot on it, just to give it that extra push.

I am thankful for budget airlines as I know I wouldn't be able to have as many European breaks without them, I just don't know what people are thinking of the way they behave.

Oh I understand your frustration now.

p.s. looking back at my post I didn't mean to sound such a snob by saying that I have not been on a budget airline. I hope no one read it that way. ;)

Had an amusing experience coming back from holiday one year.

There was this oaf who was push, push, push to the front of every queue. At the check-in, boarding the plane, getting off the plane, at the baggage collection, and to get the courtesy bus to the long term car park.

What he had failed to notice when he was pushing his way onto the courtesy bus, was that at Gatwick there are two on-airport carparks. It was only when we got to the carpark that he realised that he was on the wrong one. There were a lot of smiles on the other passengers faces (who he had pushed in front of) as he realised that he was going to have to wait whilst the bus drove all the way around the car park dropping off and picking up passengers, and then going back to the terminal before he could get on the correct bus.

The Easyjet priority boarding seems to work OK on the outbound flights but not on the return flights - I've noticed this everytime I've travelled with them.

Not all the low cost airlines have "free seating" although Ryanair and Easyjet do.

BMI Baby certainly don't - and even better you can choose your seats online when you book so you don't even need to turn up early to get the seat you want.
