my local estate agent has sold three houses in six months

I went in today and it was all gloom.. they have a rentals side that is doing well but very over supplied and rents are falling due to this.
I asked her about the selling market and her words are it is in meltdown and we just can not get people who are earning good money any mortgages unless they are god.
Last time i went in their they were pretty upbeat but the whole mood had changed..
She did say that in jan their had been a upturn in inquiries but these people either had to sell or could not go forward for a mortgage due o lack of deposit.

.PS i went and bought them a box of chocolates and dropped them in to cheer them up..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

i wonder if it's a foxtons in knightsbridge or chelsea or a regular estate agent in a random town.

welcome newbie..been here two minutes and you are calling me a liar...not a ea are you? its a one man band in Cheshire..and they are good at what they do....but they would still sell crack or themselves if it meant getting a sale.. i will also give you a clue go on rightmove do a search with the box ticked about Include Under Offer, Sold STC and Reserved properties and then do one without and it gives you a clue
and no min no max bed or price and 1 mile postcode is 455 and 436 and some of those sold have been up or months and months and that figure covers 9 estate agents offices in my area

thats 19 houses for 9 ea i make that two each and some of those that say sold have been on there six or more months that way..

One today was briefly chatty - told him there's one on the next road from where we were reduced after 9 months on - and it was still too expensive. He knew which one I meant and said "yeah it should be only 100k now tops if it's perfect" - so he knows the score - is that him pouring his heart out?
    :)
I'd love to be an EA. Being nosey in so many houses... :)

They do have to tell someone how bad it is for them. because when they phone the Samaritans they put the phone down on the poor people...

It must be an area thing as my local EA is now quite upbeat - not madly so, but says that interest has been "very high" this last month. Course, that may not translate into sales, but have to say a number of sold stickers have been slapped on the small forest of sale signs on the way in to town.
  • It makes estate agents look good if they put SSTC signs on houses even if they know that the offer is not serious. I suppose it will reduce the chances of that person getting fired when they decide to clearout some staff as it makes them look as if they are trying LOL.
