About four weeks ago I was contacted by a Ms Durkin to see if I was Interested in joining their sales team. An interview was arranged for the following day, at around noon. I attended that interview, filled the usual application form out, and had a talk with Ms Durkin and another female from the sales team.
As I'm unemployed and only getting NI credits, I'm entitled to claim travel expenses. When I put my claim in to Jobcentreplus, they told me they had to check I'd gone to the interview. Guess what ? Ms Durkin told them , not only I had I not turned up, but she phoned me twice the next day to re-arrange the interview, and I hadn't answered my phone. No call to my phone were recieved that day. So a angurment ensued with the JC, and they said they would contact them again on monday. Today ,the Jobcentre phoned again, and again Ms Durkin was adamant I hadn't attended. The JC have decided to pay me my £4.50 bus fare by giving me benefit of the doubt. It will come as no surprise that DFH never got back to me regarding the outcome of that interview. If they can't remember who they have interviewed and when, I cant say I would trust them to sort out peoples debts and hand money over to them. It will come as no surprise that they are advertising every week in the Manchester evening news for staff. I also wonder, the person that didn't turn up, and who didn't answer the phone , must know something about them that I dont. DFH don't inspire me with any confidence.0 -
I'm brand new to this site and REALLY hoping someone can offer advice! I've had a plan with DFH since April 2011, and was informed by them after a couple of months that they had negotiated with my creditors and agreements had been reached. Happy days! I have continued to make payments to them of £220 per month, and all payments are up to date. Imagine my surprise when I received a claim form in relation to one of my debts last weekend!
I contacted DFH, who pretty much told me that a creditor can apply for a CCJ against anyone who has ever broken a credit agreement, regardless of whether things are now up to date. I thought it was peculiar that they would just do this out of the blue, but thought DFH must know what they were talking about. They told me that if I sent the court forms in to their legal department they'd deal with it all on my behalf. I was about to do so, when realised after reading the particulars of claim that a couple of details weren't correct. I contacted DFH who said someone from the legal department would call me back. That still hadn't happened by today, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and contact the other side solicitors directly. I almost wish I hadn't now!
The lady I spoke to told me that an agreement had never been reached with DFH. They had made a couple of offers of repayments last summer, but all had been rejected by the creditor. The solicitors had apparently made it clear to DFH that they would issue legal proceedings if matters could not be resolved. In the meantime, DFH continued to make the payments direct to the creditor (not through the solicitors) for the amount they had offered, even though this offer had not been accepted. DFH have at no time told me that there has been any problem setting up an agreement, and did not give me any warning that legal proceedings had been threatened.
The court disbursments and solicitors fees involved in issuing the claim pretty much negate all payment i have made through DFH towards this debt. On top of all of this, because there is no agreement in place, interest continues to be added on to my loan at the rate of £3.72 per day. DFH have been making payments of around £36 a month to this creditor, and therefore I'm actually in much more debt with them now than I was when I first became involved with DFH!!
I have tried to call DFH and have been told that someone from their legal department will call me back tomorrow... I am seriously freaking out. Not only does it seem that I'm going to be landed with a CCJ and six years of bad credit as a result, but that my debt has spiralled out of control without my knowledge!
Please, please can somebody give me some advice on how on earth i can begin to sort this mess out? I'm aware that the clock is ticking due to the court now being involved.0 -

They will not refund £700 -
Im had a conversation with a friendly chap from DFH today, was thinking finally found a solution, now im really concerned. He is sending me a 'pack' out which i need to complete, sign and return. He gave me a reference number and took my debit card details for first instalment on 28th. I been online and found all this information and now worried im stuck with them?
After a little research ive found payplan which is free.
If i dont send paperwork back can they still take money from my account??
Thanks in advance.0 -
don't pay them a penny; they won't do anything that you can't do yourself, and save yourself 200 a month.0

I was told by dfh that waiting for them to set up my payments with creditors whilst they kept my first few payments was needed because I needed to default otherwise the creditors wouldn't agree a dmp because I could "afford" my payments (I was paying min payment on everything but struggling).
I then after being with them for a year or so realised there were free companies out there and when I rang dfh to cancel with them I got a rude person telling me I should stay with them, everyone who leaves ends up in more debt and comes back to is with more debt! He was horrible, scare tactics to stay.
I'm glad to say I ignored his threats contacted my creditors and said is it ok for me to make the payments dfh have been paying you until my new free dmp is set up with stepchange, they were more than happy and it all transferred over without a hitch...... asked for some initial money back from dfh point blank refusal lol don't go near them!
I'm very happy with stepchange and knowing ALL my payments are paying of my debtsMFW 2018/19 #55 target: £6,847.26/ £500 paid0 -
Is the opposing factor that they charge for their services? Surely if they can help with the management of it, seeing as we/I have got in to this in the first place, then this is a good idea? Please advise? Today was my official start with the fee coming out today. Look forward to hear your thoughts.0

Hi Grumpelstiltskin,
thanks for the advice, The free alternatives are just advice are they not? I've got myself stuck in a payday loan (wonga) and can't afford it back without taking another, so surely what DFH are doing is better? even if they take a small cut?
Please advise? Just a novice to all this! thanks!0 -
