jus a quick question to sscott the capital 1 credit which you hav is it the classic card or the platinum wit a low APR ?

Hi sussan, its the classic card i have limit starting at £500 increased to £1100 after 4 months.

i think vanquis are better than capital one classic becoz capital they raze your limit only once after the 4th statement.the only problem with these cards its only the high interest rate, 39% or 34%

Yes, Vanquis appears to score points over some of the other credit rebuilding cards - especially with regards to initial credit limit and further increases down the line.

The APR is high, however this is easily avoidable if you pay off in full every month.

My Capital One Classic is not far from the APR % of Vanquis and it's initial credit limit of £100 has been increased once to £300 in the time that i've held it - No further raise.

    I Want a Vanquis Card! :D

I'd move all my CC use to them but since they don't have online statements I'll just have to throw them the odd bit of business. I like to check what's happening with my card and waiting a month to find out is a bit old fashioned.

Vanquis is the first card I have had that I could not access online but I use their automated phone service, you can check balance and recent tranactions etc.

Yeah, that's an option, and I might use it, but I think we all like to see the numbers :)

    Sussan

I have had my Capital One Classic card for 9 months now and it's current credit limit is £300.

It started at £100 and has only been increased ONCE in the 9 months that i've held it.
I have been careful with the card i.e, never going over my credit limit and setting up a Direct Debit to pay in full each month - Hoping to help build up a better credit rating.

I telephoned Capital One today to ask for a further raise in credit limit and was clearly told by the CSR that limit increases on a Classic Visa card are not able to be carried out by request and are reviewed periodically - and without guarantee of ANY further increase. :(

Based on experiences and information on this site and what they have told me, it sounds like my card that I have with them is stuck at £300 credit limit in the foreseeable future.

I will apply for a Vanquis - Most definitely!
