Sometimes my job is BRILLIANT!
I hope Valentine's night was great for everyone. I wasn't going to spend it with anyone (awwwww) but as you kow we had a competition for Tower Bridge and I went down to meet the winners, Robert and Cheryl.
So we went to the top of Tower Bridge, (Carol carrying the bouquet of flowers she got as part of the prize) where there was soft romantic music, lighting and so on. The winners were on their way to a nice £150 meal in the Ivory Restaurant afterwards.
So we met, I took a few pics and everything was great. I was chatting with a friend of mine who works at Tower Bridge when a beaming Robert came over and said "How's this for a story for your website - I've asked Cheryl to marry me and she's said yes!"
I could have been knocked over with a feather. I'm just glad I had enough composure not to cry... (tough bloke me, obviously!)
I asked Robert if he had been planning to do it on Valentine's night anyway and he said no, he was waiting for the right opportunity!
Which we gave him... :heartsmil
Sometimes I love the job
(What makes it even more relevant is when he emailed me yesterday and said... "Didn't get around to mentioning that I recognised you from your appearances on the MoneySavingExpert forum - was nice to meet you in the flesh!")
There's no escape
But Robert, if you're reading - congrats again!!
