Numpty, my son was his given his redundancy notice two days ago and I have been trawling the net to find info that will help him to survive whilst he searches for another job.

This thread has been absolutely brilliant and has helped me greatly in my search. It has answered a lot of questions and directed me straight to the right place to get answers to other questions.

I have been making a list of things for him to do and questions to ask at the Jobcentre. Thanks to this thread I have added a number of things that I hadn't thought of myself.

I wish you the best of luck with your job hunt and just want to say thankyou for the help you have given us. Thanks also to all the other MSEers that have posted helpful info on this and other threads.

Hope the interveiws went well boomdocker

Hiya, well they both went well thank you. The first job I particularly wanted and the second one would have done me for now.

Well, this morning I have an update.

The interviewer from the first one called me and offered me the job!! :j

I'm so totally buzzing right now. Having not worked since October (technically June as I was on garden leave) I am itching to get back and to do something productive. So happy its a job I really wanted, its local, the start rate is the same as I was on at my previous job but with scope to increase and I feel vindicated now that my decision to leave has paid off. _party_

I hope you find something for yourself soon Numpty. And to everyone else looking, don't give up.

Been on the phone today with job center re contributions based JSA, and have my interview friday, is it just to confirm that I am who I say I am etc and fill in the forms?
Have also been asked to take in details of my redundancy payment, with this i have total savings of under £16k and after paying off a loan and reducing my mortgage I will have less than £8k.

    thanks

    Not looking forward to it

Hubbie is working at mo, but there are redundancies at his work

Crockpot yes that is basically all the interview is, some questions about what work you did?can do what your looking for

They probably want them details just for date your employment finished

Don't be worried about them , they are getting pretty good at the job center for dealing with people get made redundant(they're getting enough practice:o)

Hope your hubby keeps his job and you get one soon:A

Been to job center today for my interview, saw a nice chap who went through it all with me.

i have to go in every 2 weeks and sign on.

he did also tell me that I may work for up to 15 hrs and 59 mins each week and still claim my contributions JSA, so worth looking at, aslong as I am looking for work the rest of the time and declare it.

Also as i worked part time before I only have to look for part time work and I am allowed to look for work at my previous hourly rate for 13 weeks, after that I will have to consider min wage jobs.

On a less good note my redundancy money has still not come through due to my being on holiday and a mix up in forms, should be next week.

    Glad it went ok crockpot
Something I found out , if your claimoing contibution based JSA, you don't automatically get free NHS care (prescriptions, glasses ), you need to get a form from Job centre office called HC1
