Hunting the free items from the shops was fun. Here is how I got on...

The prunes were out of stock, which I find surprising given that Holland & Barrett is a bit out of the way for most people and that they are prunes (not the most popular thing in the world). I think they just hid the stock.

Got the Thornton's chocolate but had to ask at the till as the only ones they had out was the gift-wrapped version. They had at least 1 1/2 big boxes behind the till, no fuss.

Also got the chocolate bar from Tesco. The single item confectionery is on the end of the aisle (where you have your back to the tills), and they only had 4 left when I got mine. It isn't very nice (has lots of peanuts) but it was free. Coupon scanned for the exact price of the item.

All in all, 2/3 isn't bad considering the papers were bought with MOCs and have MOCs inside. (2x £1 OK, 50p Express Sunday, 20p Express Monday, 45p Star Sunday.). :)

Now I can spend the rest of the day with something to read. :rotfl:

I wasn't as lucky as you. We don't have either a Tescos or Thorntons nearby but I really like prunes so off to Holland & Barrett with 2 vouchers. Like you, by the time I arrived the packets in stock had gone. Have to say ours is a small shop & the shelf space for these was only one packet wide - probably only gave out about 6 packets!

has anyone got todays toy & book? is it worth sending off and payin £5.99 for? if its anything like the free lego offer then I wont bother

Today's book is a small 30 page glossy paperback specially produced for Mirror Group. The toy was a plastic Thomas the Tank Engine about 2" long (made in China).

Don't know if that will help you decide.

They are like the mirror children's books a while ago - lunar Jim, Cbeebies, Angelina Balleria etc ones.

And they thoughtfuly gave us today and tomorrow to waste time going in to look for them...when they were probably all gone by 10am. I did ask if they were expecting a delivery, or had kept some aside for tomorrow, but no.
COntrast with my Thorntons who were stamping the token and giving them out when their order gets in next week.. I felt so warm and fuzzy towards then that I bought some special toffee while I was in there.;)

Got he prunes, but our H+B isn't a big store, I had to ask for them and she said they were near the till and I'd better get them quick before they went, they can't have had many to start with.
  • I hadn't filled in my Thornton's coupon, so I was sent to one side with a pen. I noticed the SA was writing on each one yes or no I worked out this was to indicate if you had bought anything with the free chocs or not, wonder why they want to know that:rolleyes:

So they can see whether it's worth running the offer, I guess. They run it to get you in there to either buy something extra (like we did!), or to get the chocs, like them, and go in another time to buy them.

The computerised till will tell them that, I thought it would be because they wanted to just keep the names and addresses of those who bought, to target them with more offers. Those who indulged get ready for the junk mail
