Ive just sent a PM to ShelfStacker apologising for my behaviour. I was only messing but realise maybe it was a little OTT.

Update to follow.....
It's all done electronically, i.e. the cheques are scanned (you see the image on your receipt). Branch staff then get an image of each cheque paid in on their system, along with the amount it's been credited as and the customer's name. Each one has to be individually checked and accepted before the close of business.
Ok, I'm sure you'll sometimes get a member of staff who just clicks through every cheque and accepts them all, but I believe that on the whole, because of the way the system has been designed, they are well checked. And as it's all done electronically, there's a clear audit trail. If a cheque was found to have been accepted for Mickey Mouse, the person who accepted it would be easily identified, and no doubt told off!0 -
milfordmadness wrote: »Jees get off your high horse and take a joke..... Guess my point is proven with your little outburst there! You are only a bank employee, i.e. about £15k per annum? I earned that like in 1990! So please don't take that attitude with me - you are a glorified admin assistant, paid accordingly and treated accordingly - accept it.
p.s. I refer to you in posts because I am not a bank employee and I do value your input. Much appreciated, thank you..... just chill out
Whilst you have apologized for this post already, I'd really like to emphasize that judging someone based on their salary is plainly stupid.
I started out as a cashier in Barclays. I'm not going to post what I gross now, but they've added on a zero since I started with Barclays. Of the management team I work with, four started out as cashiers.
And although I am far from a religious man, people around here seem to forget the whole "do unto others" thing - does it even cross your minds that you might be getting !!!! service because you treat us like !!!!?What would William Shatner do?0 -

Point taken - was messing around though :rolleyes:BarclaysManager wrote: »I started out as a cashier in Barclays. I'm not going to post what I gross now, but they've added on a zero since I started with Barclays. Of the management team I work with, four started out as cashiers.
LOL, you don't need to post what you gross! It's easy to work out - about the same as I earn then! But again, it doesn't really matter cos I was winding him up! I used to work in a bank and can get away with slagging myself off - I used to call myself a glorified admin assistant with cash handling responsibilities! As was previously mentioned, bank staff are what we'd consider 'underpaid' because the branches are classed as retail, i.e. bonus' etc...
I would prefer they ditched the sales pitches, got paid better salaries and concentrated on good old fashioned customer service like the old days.... you must agree, some things were better in 'old style banking'......BarclaysManager wrote: »And although I am far from a religious man, people around here seem to forget the whole "do unto others" thing - does it even cross your minds that you might be getting !!!! service because you treat us like !!!!?
I don't actually treat anyone like cr*p - but can see your point.....
I'll crawl away and sulk some more until i've earned SS forgiveness :kisses:Some say he is a racist, others say he is a liar but the truth will always prevail...

The Chicken and Egg springs to mind here.
I think many customers would see this the other way round.0
