is my pc infected with something?

i tried to do a full scan with windows defender today and it froze midway through. the green graphic was still moving but the time and number of files scanned was not moving. i started it going at 5pm and when i checked it 2 hours later it was frozen and it had only ran for 19 minutes before it froze. i then decided to download and scan with adaware and that froze as well. i do manage to do scans with kaspersky, superantispyware and malwarebytes and they find nothing. i have been suffering attempted or what looks like attempted network attacks from the helkern worm aka slammer. there has been 30 attempts since the 15th january. it says something like system intrusion attempt blocked. attacking computer not blocked,address possibly spoofed. it says something like that everytime.
people slag off norton but i never had problems like this when i had norton.

ps i have noticed that alot of the time when i use ccleaner that it gets rid of more data than it used to. there used to always be less than 1mb and now there can be sometimes be over 200mb.

CCleaner can get rid of gigabytes if theres enough in the recycle bin or the temp files

Just because norton never found anything does NOT make it a good anti virus!

run hijackthis again , tick those items and then click "fix Selected"

the first 2 do not need to run all the time and use up resource , the last one is dodgy are far as I know

If MBAM and SAS are scanning okay, may be other issues affecting defender and ad-aware (neither of which are much kop, IMHO). Looking at info on the worm, it would seem that it's more server-based, and is "unlikely" to infect a home pc, other than the home pc being on the receiving end.
