Ultimately she saved roughly £350 in the second year but her own policy was organised through a broker, not online as the initial one was, so the comparison may be slightly unfair. She is now doing the IAM "Skill For Life" course which when (and I suppose if) she passes, we are told, should automatically award her a further year's NCB. The course only cost £79 which should be more than returned by the further reduction in premium. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
IAM is definitely worth it, though I've found the only insurers that offer a direct discount for having it were the more expensive ones in the first place.
That said, once you've done the IAM course, you will be a MUCH better driver and therefore much more likely to avoid having an insurance claim so you'll keep your NCB longer and be less likely to have to pay out an excess. (This applies to anyone of any age - the IAM course is a good investment - and as they say, a skill for life!)student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -

ive just been getting quotes for me, using all the comparison sites this site promotes and all were at least £100 higher than my renewal with current insurers admiral.
i then tried elephant, got my renewal down by £90.
i dont know if elephant will insure young drivers, i remember trying them when i was 18 and 19 and they wouldnt insure me....work permit granted!0 -

E car insurance were cheapest for my 18yo lad, £1040, 1.0L Corsa TPF&T. Tried local brokers most said if you can get it for £1,000 take it, didn't even try to beat it, a couple tried but couldn't come near it.
Considering that statistically young male drivers are quite likely to have a claim I reckon less than £3 a day isn't too bad a price.0
