hi, i dont even know if i have written this post in the correct place- so im sorry if this is totally wrong...
i have just been to an orange mobile shop to sign up for a mobile broadband contract- £10 per month, 18 months 1G.. and my credit was declined. having applied for an orange mobile phone contract a couple of months ago and heving been declined with no clue as to why- i have no debts, a credit card, nothing outstanding or remarkable, i applied to see our credit report and it was 999/1000 so as high as it can be. we put the decline for the mobile to bed and didnt think about it until today when it happened again- (is it a coincidence that it is orange again..? they seemed to be using experian but that is who we did our personal credit check with that came back really good) why would i be declined for such a small amount? is it just orange? i knowim not meant to now go and try and get credit anywhere else but really frustrated that this has happened. im going away for a few days tomorrow and was really hoping to go with some mobile broadband.. any advise...?

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:hello:0 -
hi yes i am on the electoral role.. i was asked some questions about when we moved into the house we own etc and i was a bit unsure of the answers.. never can remember all the dates.. if i got these questions wrong would it have affected it...?0

the score on a credit check is basically useless and is almost just plucked out of the air.
The best thing to do is to get your credit file and see what is on there. They cost £2 each for paper copies or there are often free deals to access the information for equifax and experian online.
Companies all have their own criteria for a pass/decline for credit. The dates themselves probably didn't have a bearing on it, but it could be something like you haven't been in a property long, haven't been in a job very long, you moved and the electoral role hasn't been updated etc etc etc.....

It 's best to order for your credit report and see for yourself. This should be your starting point0

any more than 2 or 3 searches in a 6 month period will end up with more declines.
