I thought all stores had asterixes over most of the numbers these days

I shred all my rceipts anyway, but will have a look from now on to see which ones show the numbers so I can add to the list if needs be.

Well done for pointing it out

there is a myth about these recepits as the card cant be used without the secure number on the back of the card anyway unless it is a cashier who just puts the details in again once you have gone, but they already have your details on the retailers copy..

people still worry about their bank details yet forget that their sort code and account number along with account name are on their cheques.

it is always safe to shread documents, if only to stop people seeing what you have purchased or how much you have spent as it would make you and your house a target if people knew you bought 2 plasmas an xbox 360 and 10 games.

  • One of the big scams, apparently is to call you up and NOT ask for card no and exp date, and state you have been the victim of fraud, while eventually asking for the security code to credit the money back. So I still think that it the receipts should be changed for our security.

We are all switched on people, but there are plenty of people who don't destroy any documents, and surely it is worthwhile for the banks to stop making it so hard, by getting more up to date machines!
