E-cheques to paypal

Hi some has just bought some tickets I had spare for a concert on Friday by e-cheques through paypal, how long do they take to clear as paypal say they might not clear untill the 14th (which is after the concert). But there is also something saying about four days, which will mean I can send thurs by special delivery.

Paypal will let you know when the payment has cleared and when it is safe to send the item out. Unfortunately, that will be the date they have already specified to you i.e. 14th February. Why not contact your buyer to ask for an alternative means of payment?

echques are a bit of a pain due to the fact theat they take time to clear as I have some cashback coming from Quidco which the echeque transfer says that it will take between 7 to 9 days to clear.

Paypal advise not to send goods until the echeque has cleared as it could bounce and you lose the money and the goods. If I was you I would email the buyer and ask if they can pay by another method i.e. bank transfer or postal order so that way you will get your money in time without them missing the concert

Like the others have already said echeques are a right pain and often take longer to clear than the paypal 'suggested' date. I'd explain to the buyer what has happened and ask for a different form of payment, and remember to send the tickets by special delivery for guaranteed next day delivery.

I had one recently it took about 2 weeks to clear so I would say it won't clear in time and politely ask them if they have any other way they can pay you.

They do not always clear by the estimated time. Agree with UKJubilee, point out that this payment method won't clear in time.

They can take ages to clear. I had one that was 'pending' for four weeks and then it bounced! I have them blocked now.

it's another way for paypal to assist scammers, there's no other reason for them

I've only ever had one - but the time quoted by PP is 'working days'. So, depending what weekday you get notification, it does usually take a week or more. :mad:

I assume that one is forced by paypal terms to accept them?

How does it assist scammers? Paypal themselves say don't send anything until payment is clear.

I undersatnd, although I haven't done it myself, that echeques can now be blocked from your selling preferences in paypal.
