Last night I ran another Malwarebytes which found nothing. The above log is after restarting the computer this morning.

My dad says he is not aware of me every having a Norman anti-virus programme installed. Thanks as ever! :beer:

Well the above log is pretty much identical to the one on page 1 (ie, nothing 'fixed')

If your happy to keep the computer as it is then looks like thats it

Im personally not a fan of AVG as its caused no end of problems this last year, but if your happy to keep it thats upto you

I cant see any firewall though? Youd best make sure you at LEAST have the windows one turned on. But as you have what I would class as 'questionable' software running, id advise using a decnt firewall to control what goes out or comes in
If you go down this route id advise using PCTOOLS FIREWALL

Oh dear, I thought I'd fixed the items that I marked in bold in my earlier post, i.e. not the three that were related to Neilsen programme. Thanks again, will take all this on board and try to sort out the issues you have flagged.

Just checked on the control panel, and Windows firewall appears to be running .... isn't it??

More help needed please ....

This morning I switched on and immediately connected to the internet, at which point the computer warned me that both Windows Firewall and PC Tools firewall were switched OFF! :eek: I quickly disconnected from the net.

I tried to switch on the PC Tools firewall but struggled to find it's location, then got a little black screen followed by a message telling me there was no net connection. So I switched on Windows Firewall, then rebooted. At which point the computer tells me PC Tools Firewall is working and I check to find Windows Firewall apparently turned off!

On top of that PC Tools Firewall is constantly popping up little boxes asking me to let processes happen which may as well be in a foreign language, so I am just agreeing them all. This can't be the best way to protect my computer.

Please help, I am actually more worried now than when I started (altho I really, really appreciate all of Alienrik's help).

I have just updated AVG and run a scan. I then got a flashing thing on my bottom toolbar before the entire computer just switched off. Logging back on I check AVG to find it says
"The scan log is corrupted (scan has not finished properly)" :mad:
As I log back on to the net I get a pop up saying I have a tracking cookie from doubletrader which I healed, then another offering me a free ipod from media.fastclick.net. Obviously I have not clicked on it. :eek:
