Credit scoring - Amex platinum credit card

Hello, I recently applied for the american express platinum credit card but received a reply letter stating my application would not be progressed taking into account the credit scoring. I have written to both Equifax and Experian using the proforma letters from this website and await replies but what are the key factors I should be looking for? I am on the electoral roll, have a mortgage and another credit card but have no debt and pay off my current credit card on a monthly basis. Am I just not a profit making person for amex?
Any advise would be gratefully received.

Have you accessed your score and report directly on https://www.creditexpert.co.uk?
I got turned down for a Conrad card recently despite having a credit score of 982. As I had other cards from MBNA I expect they looked at my spending habits and figured out they wouldn't make any money out of me. Might well be the same for Amex.Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j

There is no upper, middle or lower class. Simply those that have class and those that don't.0 -
Why not phone Amex and ask their application processing or credit scoring department what the problem is! Must be a phone number quoted on the letter See if you can get them to work your application again and clarify any thing they may have got wrong!
One thing of note - if you are completely "clean" with no obvious flaws on your bureau records, are your earnings greatee than the minimum wage needed for an Amex PLatinum (is it 20k pa? - check the application/website). If your wage is not enough, when on the line, see if they can offer you a Blue card, without another applicatio or bureau search.
Good luck!0
