Buyer says they have sent PayPal payment ...

But i havent received it :confused:

They won the auction last night, i sent them an email this morning asking how they would like to pay, and they sent me one back at 1735 saying they paid by PayPal. Its no 1803 and no sign of any payment :confused:

They have 2 feedback and both purchases were made in July last year. Does this sound dodgey?

    Have you checked your actual paypal account by logging in, as I recall there was a problem a couple of weeks ago where lots of people were not getting their payment notifications.

    Could you ask the buyer to send you a screenshot of their paypal reciept, or is it possible you have the wrong email address linked to your paypal account? I had this with a seller recently and her address was incorrect by one letter.
  • Go into your paypal account and check recent transactions, sometimes what happens is you need to confirm it sort of thing. Have you got a premier account? Your buyer may have used their credit card rather than paypal funds or debit card/bank account funds, and unless you have a premier/business card it will be refused. You have to update your account accordingly (easy to do, and free) and the payment should apprear.

    If this isn't the case then you should receive a notification from paypal saying so and so has paid and a reference number. Ask him again for the transaction number and pop that in, see what the status is.

    Yeah i have a premier account. Ive just logged in and payment is not there. If they went through the checkout then the email should be correct, ive sold things before and had no problems. I shall see what their reply is and ask them to forward their receipt to me.

    If it's not in your paypal account then you haven't got it..simple as that. Just tell the buyer the same thing, but in a slightly less blunt :p way and ask them to double check they have made the payment as they think they did and haven't mistakenly paid to a different account.

    The only time a payment doesn't always show up in your paypal account is when it is an echeque, but even then there should be a trace of it showing as pending or uncleared even though it doesn't add to your balance.

    I had the same problem but i was the seller (i had accidently added an S to my email address) my buyer wasn't you was it?

    You didn't buy hair extensions did you by any chance??

    Alot of good advice here, would tend to agree with what Soolin said above, if it isn't there then it hasn't been sent. Of course if they can send you the receipt this would be great....I would tend now to be a little wary of this buyer because it's possible they're trying to pull a fast one.

    Be sure to let us know how you get on with this!....and don't send anything to the buyer until you're sure payment is in your PP account.

    I have had 2 of these recently, I just asked them to double check the money had come out of their account as I hadn't received it in my paypal account.
    Neither of them had clicked through all the way, though they thought they had at the time. It might just be as simple as that.

    It is a shame that with so many conmen out there that we automatically assume people are trying to scam us. Though I suppose we don't post on here to say, 'hey I sold something & they paid & I sent it' usually only when we have a problem, so 'praps that is why we assume the worst.
    I am becoming inccreasingly worried about my ebay business, not because I am having any problems (hardly ever) just through reading some of the horror stories on here :eek:

    Still nothing :confused: Ive had no reply back yet either. Im going to give it until the end of the day and if i havent had an email / payment then im going to have to take action. Thing is, they only have 2 feedback and a negative isnt going to have much affect! They will just start another account :(

    There is no action you can take until day 7, so I would leave it for now. It is way too early to even be thinking of a neg yet.

    Leave it until day 7 then start the NPB process, if he hasn't responded before then that will get his attention.
