I have read this thread with interest. He sounds just like someone I know!

I do hope that he has truly seen where he has been going wrong and that it will now get sorted and that he does not relapse into his old ways....no doubt you will do what you can to help him in this.

All the best to you both.

  • Have you bought him a little book

He needs it to write down every penny so he can see where the money goes. This includes 30p for a chocolate bar etc

You might want to get one for yourself and do it as a joint exercise

the plan is to use a spreadsheet to forecast whats going on for the month and then use a book to write down things on a daily basis
and by getting mini statements he will be able to check he is staying on track
i am also hoping he will use telephone banking as its so easy to use just to check whats going on with your account i have shown him how i do all my accounts and everything and i have tried to get everything so that we are both doing it together
im not able to get access to his money/accounts so i am hoping he will willingly show me proff that he's not got his overdraft increased or anything!
the weekends will be the toughest so will have to think of things to do!
