    Shameless bump.

*Barges to the head of the queue*
  • is SSID broadcasting of the router turned ON?
Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.
  • I know you said you reinstalled the router but did you also reinstall your wireless adaptor (usb or card). Or check to see if the drivers were upto date, its just I use linksys router and adaptor and had a similar problem where the lights were on the router but the pc was not picking up the connection. It was the usb adaptor which I just reinstalled and made sure I had only one showing (I deleted/uninstalled other usb adaptors/other internet connections that showed up on the pc)then it worked.

It might be worthwhile checking the Netgear website to get specific information on drivers and support for your products http://www.netgear.co.uk/product_support.php

this may sound really stupid as i dont know much about computers but i had a similar problem with my laptop .
and all i did was take out the battery ,then put it back in and repressed the wireless button and it found the network ,i did have to put the code back in and up it fired .

i know it may not be as simple as that but it worked for me lol
  • tattoed bum, reading the log, yes the switch is on, the nic is recognised, but Vicky's machine cannot see the router.
Without having physical access to either lappy or router, it still looks like a router issue, either wireless turned off, of ssid not being broadcast

Thanks for the help so far. I'll look into the SSID thing tomorrow - I'll be back :-)
