17th March is St Patricks day in Ireland so u may find that hotel prices etc are a bit inflated for the dates you are wanting to go. Personally, I love Fermanagh but it really depends on what u want from ur few days here - u might prefer Belfast city centre which has loads of places now to stay to suit all budgets.

As previously stated, check out the OP's location. ;-)

I would second the suggestion for Enniskillen - lovely part of the world!!
Would stick with B & B's tho as Killyhevlin hotel etc would be quite pricey.
Never been in the youth hostel so cant advise you on that. But L'Italia restaurant does 2 course meals for £12.95 and it is lovely!!!

OH and I regularly go on 2 and 3 night midweeks breaks to self catering cottages around the north antrim coast areas.

Midweek rates are cheaper and the facilities in the places we've been have been excellent.

You've not said how you define cheap but we usually pay between £140-180 for 3 nights. Electric, heating linen etc are all included in the price.

With a young baby I thnk this type of holiday is ideal Home from home so to speak.

Try the Tourist Board website and click on self catering, area of choice, price range and dates you want to go on. You'll be surprised hw many places are out there.

We've just come back from a cottage called Fallowvee from that website which was right beside the sea. I didn't want to come home

Have you thought about Kilkeel, where the mountains of mourne sweep down to the sea. There is some fantastic self catering cottages here called Hannas Close Country Cottages. I don't know what price they are, but you will have a lovely relaxing break in fabulous accommodation.

    Here is a link

I was just thinking Newcastle might be an option, all round that part of the coast is lovely and plenty of mountain ranges. You might be able to get a static caravan in one of the parks.

Yep the Killy is very expensive, overpriced for the service in it. The Westville Hotel is new but by all accounts is supposed to expensive too. Avoid the Railway or the Fort Lodge if you get a cheap rate, one of them is grotty and the other draws a mad local crowd at the weekend to the disco and can get a bit rough and noisy!! I don't think I can repeat on here the nickname the locals have on it, LOL... There are some lovely bed and breakfasts surrounding Ekn.
  • I reckon if you ring a b and b and tell them you want three nights (isn't it???) you could get some of them to maybe do a deal for £100 - £120. Sure they can only say no! Things are slack here at the minute and people are glad of anything. Then all you have to do is eat a massive breakfast and just cover your evening meal. I know if you are anything like us if we head away and are short on dosh we will do takeaways at least one or two nights. If you plan ahead where you will eat you should be able to do it quite cheap.

A pity you can't use Mr T vouchers in NI for YH - only YHA UK and SYHA.
They're ok for lots of the foodie places mentioned above, though.
Hope you have some vouchers you can use - you should have the Feb mailing by then, too.
Good luck - unrelated, just read Eugene McEldowney's 'The Faloorie Man' through the night and finished around 0500h; there is much of early 60's Portrush/Port Stewart annual family fortnights, lovingly observed.

I'd definitely look for YH family room deals[but then I've been a Life Member for way past 30 years]

-site is only showing 2008 details atm - so I'm going to email them for Family deals/specials updates and will post them here.
