It seemed to be random in the problem. Sometimes pages would load fine, other times it stalled until I pressed F5 to have another go

It was quirky I use PCTools All in one at the mo as got it for free via hotukdeals.co.uk.0

Open Zone Alarm, go to Firewall and change the settings from High to Medium. Let me know if that works.
If it does, Right Click on the Zone Alarm icon in the system tray and select About. Let me know which version is indicated.
Either way, the problem will likely be solved by installing a later version of Zone Alarm.
Go through the steps that I have suggested, come back with the answers and I'll indicate the version that you will need to install.
I think that you can safely ignore most of the advice that has been given on this thread.

It did work from switching it from high to medium
the version it is coming up with is ZoneAlarm Pro version:7.0.470.000I know the rules of punctuation and grammer I just choose to ignore them (or forget them half the time)... Apologies in advance0 -
Download and install this later version to solve the problem.
After installation, you can move the settings back to High....and then do a FULL virus and Malware scan of your laptop.0 -
