Co-op Cash Card Account

Never Banked with Barclays... Might give them a go if the CO-OP say no..."What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

They do a basic cash card account....a few people have had hiccups with setting up but they seem ok
(they were one of my biggest creditors & they fell over themselves to offer me an account....decided on the co-op in the end though)We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
They don't do a credit check for the purpose of getting your credit rating but for identification and fraud screening.
I am not on the electoral role and they accepted my account straightaway - I didn't have to be referred.

Ok , My OH rang co-op and they said he needs to write in asking for review of application , He went into Barclays to try and open account and was declined . He was also told to write to head office to appeal. I dont understand how most people are getting these accounts and he cant.
He is starting to panic now that he is unable to get an account for his wages to be paid into.
We did have a joint bank account before he went bankrupt but he took his name off a week before he went bankrupt so is only in my name now , His wages were being paid into this account and his employer still has those bank details , will his wages still be paid ok into this account if his name isnt on account ? He still receives his working tax credit into this account.0 -
Yes, it's fine for his wages to be paid into your account if you are both happy with that. It gives him time to appeal the decisions made by Barclays and Co-op.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

Must be a CIFAS marker I would think if he's been declined without owing them anything. Have you written off to the CRA's to get his credit file (£2) yet? That will show any CIFAS information on it if there is any.
If there is a CIFAS on there it will be on there for 13 months from the day it was put on, unless the reason it's on there is still valid and the activity continuing.
For those of you waiting to hear about the progress of my co-op application, I applied on Wednesday and it was referred, Thursday called them, still referred, Friday called them, still referred, but I spoke to them today and it has been accepted and I should have the details & card through in the next few days. So don't worry if you've been referred, it probably doesn't mean you've been rejected
BTW CIFAS markers can go on for all sorts of reasons and don't suggest that the person whose file they are on are committing fraud - they are just an indication to lenders to take extra care verifying the information is valid. I got one once because someone in a phone shop typed my DOB in wrong when I was applying for a phone contract and the system saw it was different to what I had previously applied with, so it flagged it up as a personal info inconsistency. So they are quite easy to pick up if you're unlucky even if you're not intending to defraud anyone!BR 08/04/09 | ED 02/10/09

Thanks Sieve , well done on getting account thats one less worry for you , I will certainly get appeal letters sent off and apply for credit reports as he certainly hasnt done any fraudulant but the point you made above could be correct and just be a simple error.
Thank you0 -
No problem. I also got one put on there accidentally by alliance & leicester, who I tried to open an account with years ago. I went through the online application, and it asked if I had ever defaulted on anything, to which I answered yes, because I had. I was declined, but some days later I checked my file and they had put a CIFAS on there.
I was not a happy bunny so I phoned them up to ask why and the guy on the end of the phone said "yes, you have bad credit on your file". I said "urr, yes, I know, but that's not enough to get me a CIFAS". He said "I know but you were asked if you had ever been in default on the application" to which I replied "yes, I know, and I said yes I have". Big pause...... "urr, oh yeah, so you did sir, sorry about that!" and they removed it straight away. Idiots
