    Hi,

I was declared BR yesterday along with my OH. I applied for a joint cashminder account today over the phone. I was asked why I had chosen a cashminder account and told the lady that we had just gone BR and needed a basic account for wages direct debits etc. She said that was fine and proceeded with the application. Ten minutes later after completing the application she said that it had been accepted. We will recieve a welcome pack within the next two days and approx two days after that we should expect our debit cards and paying in books. I was pleasantly suprised to find how quick and easy the whole application took.

Yeah it was like that for me but others i notice they seem to be getting harder to get. My partners mum just applied for one and because we have just moved and were not on the voters register yet although i have sent off the forms they want her life story.

She called them today and they said they should have an answer for her by tomorrow. I will keep you all informed.

I know this sounds stupid, but you said he applied for a "cash card" account, did you mean cashminder?

If he did not apply for a cashminder account that might be the reason. I know i am clutching at straws but.........

  • Only three reasons I know for not being accepted for Cashminder are: Owe 'em money....Not on electoral role....history of fraud

they may not give a reason for refusal....they might tell you to refer to the credit file agencies...as they've done in the past with me when I tried to open a co-op savers account....have you had a look at all three credit agency files?

Well my credit history is cr*p. Will ring them and see what they say. OK worst case scenario. What if I can't get a bank account after my BR? What happens then?
