Co-op Cash Card Account

Hi , I was just wondering if any one had applied for a co-op cash card account after bankruptcy and been declined ?
My OH was declared bankrupt on 22 Jan and tried to open an account with them , he rang them and done application over the phone and they said he will receive a decision within a few days , he received decision today saying thank you for applying but we are unable to offer you an account ?
I thought these were suppossed to be 1 of the 2 banks that were bankrupt friendly and dont understand why they wont let him open one , he is beginning to panic as now he doesnt have account for his wages to be paid into.

In the first instance i would appeal as this seems to be happening a bit with both co-op and barclays at the moment.

Did you owe them any money?

I applied for one yesterday and got referred (I'm not BR yet). Don't owe them anything. Called today and he said it's still under referral but that I should get my sort code and account number/card etc next week? Didn't seem to make much sense to me but the guy was unfathomably enthusiastic about speaking to me.

Will keep you posted on what happens with my application if you like.

That's worrying. I'm applying tomorrow prior to my BR on Monday.
