No I cannot elaborate as I am not an underwriter.

You can phone them and ask to speak to the customer care team but you are unlikely to get any further. If you can't open a current plus account there are other options within natwest and elsewhere for you.

Nah, got HSBC who are 1000x better than crappywest lol :j (in my opinion of course, which i'm duly entitled to)

sorry to diversify from subect in hand but.....

Can you elaborate what a 2nd stage is? i.e. how can they pass one stage and fail another within 3 days? I got account details letter, paying in book, chq book and when i thought card arrived it was letter stating account was declined and above account was now closed! Then got a statement confirming closed account!

I reapplied, done it all again and same outcome! LOL

    It was pointless reapplying.

The secondary checks are fraud prevention mainly. Discrepancies in applications can result in accounts being closed as can bad debts with other group companies; eg a Mint card.

Why was it pointless? I thought they'd made a mistake being that they'd already sent letter with account details, paying in book, cheque book etc! Obviously I thought it went through ok!

Never had any accounts before with group, nor had bad debt!

milford, I am sure there is something that caused it to happen, you may not be aware of it, or you may just not be telling us. I am glad you got sorted with HSBC though.

I had a royalties account a few years back for a few months. Thought it sounded great at 1st but soon realised it was of absolutely no benefit to me at all so I cancelled. The teller was a bit miffed and tried to encourage me to keep it but it cost me money and saved me nothing. You simply have to weigh up whether any of the benefits you may use will outweigh the monthly cost.

It was pointless reapplying because it would not be a mistake. It was closed for a reason.

As you keep saying, so can you elaborate?

Blank credit file, 3 accounts that all have green [0]'s - but like I say, and repeat it for you as you obviously can't hear me lol - WHY WOULD ANY BANK WASTE TIME AND MONEY OFFERING AN ACCOUNT AND SENDING EVERYTHING OUT INCLUDING THE CHEQUE BOOK THEN CANCEL IT????

It just doesn't make good business sense and to be honest if that is what my Tax is paying for then it's a ruddy joke....... we used to, at school, say things like "proud to be British" but that's gone - now its more a case of "Proud not to be British".....
