We're big fans of South Lakes zoo. They have Lemas, and Emus roaming around! They also have a penguin enclosure that you can go in and get close to them. The Baboons are in the open too and you can get really near to them. . You can walk into the bird of prey house and have Vultures flying over your head

Agree about South Lakes Wild Animal Park - the best zoo I've ever been to. Also- if you get a receipt from the Co-op in Dalton (nearest town) you get 2 for the price of one (separate receipt for each free ticket).

Another great place to visit is Monkey World in Dorset. Not a zoo as such, but a rescue centre and they do fabulous work in giving abused apes the chance of a better life.Plenty for the kids to do as well as seeing all types of monkeys, orangs etc in lovely spacious areas.
