Internet connection keeps dropping & other problems

I have a Dell Vostro 200 desktop, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6550 2.33GHz, 2.GB RAM, running Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1. I have a BT Voyager 2110 router which I connect to with ethernet cable, my husband's laptop connects via wireless. Zen are our ISP.
Recently when I have been online (using either IE7 or Firefox) I have been having problems. I can be connected to the internet for a couple of hours, and then suddenly I lose my connection to the internet. The only way I can get re-connected is to reboot the PC, which means I lose whatever I was doing at the time. When I try to reboot after the problem has occurred, the PC can be really slow to shut down and restart. My husband's laptop has no problems and he never loses his internet connection, so I don't think it's a router problem.
Another problem I have is when connecting USB devices such as a printer or memory stick. I have 4 USB ports on the front of the PC and if I have more than one thing plugged in at a time the PC crashes. If I unplug one of the devices it starts working again.
Could these 2 problems be connected and is there anything I can do about them? Thanks very much!

Does anyone have any ideas? It's just happened again and it's driving me mad cos I was in the middle of doing something and had to reboot my PC to get the internet connection back  I've run Spyware Doctor, CCleaner, MalwareBytes and scanned with NOD32 antivirus and none of them came up with anything.0

I believe it to be Dell's wireless card unfortunately. When you are connected are you connected only at 1.0Mbps?

Hi, thanks for this but it isn't the laptop that's the problem - my husband is using the laptop and it's fine. I'm using the desktop, connected via ethernet cable, not wirelessly. I have no problem with connection speeds when I'm actually connected, it's just the dropping connection and USB problem I'm having.0 -

As you use NOD32 id suggest stopping SPYWARE DOCTOR from starting up as nod32 already has spyware detection
Just to be double sure id run these 2 programs ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')

UPDATE and FULL SCAN
Post the log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
Download SUPERANTISPYWARE (Top right)

UPDATE and SCAN
You also have zonealarm running. Its possible that its that thats creating the problem as quite a few users (Myself included) have had problems with it (No harm if you still have problems after the above in uninstalling it, if the problems not cured then simply reinstall that. if it IS, then install PCTOOLS FIREWALL in its place):idea:0 -
Id say the USB problem is something else entirely
Goto DEVICE MANAGER (Right click COMPUTER and select PROPERTIES ~ bottom left), uninstall the USB drivers, reboot and let vista reinstall them:idea:0 -

Ran Malwarebytes and it detected nothing. I have downloaded Superantispyware and tried to do a scan several times but it keeps crashing. It seems to find 45 tracking cookies, then crashes when it gets to this file: c:\windows\Prefetch\WUAUCLT.EXE-5D573F0E.pf Is this significant and can I do anything to fix it? Thanks!0 -
actually sounds like a problem with the amount of drain on the motherboards power thats causing the problem (usb devices causing lock ups is a big clue)
try a powered usb hub

Try running superanti in SAFE MODE
Browntoa ~ quite possible if the PSU isnt upto it. But I was thinking it might be the USB controller driver/s:idea:0
