Welliefest 2010 nonsense - just ignore it will put you to sleep!!
Inbetween writing - sorting out wedding type paperwork and trying to identify a budget of costs for said welliefest -
Humanist ceremony 270
Join humanist society 30
Wedding legal stuff 65 - not sure if this is included in the same said 270 charged by the humanist society - so just emailed them to check otherwise want to know exactly what is included in the £270
Venue - as close to free as possible or actually FREE
Invites etc - ? will ask LT rough idea of costs for a nice HM card. Or may just do an email (free) (prefer cards though I think)
Buffet type malarkay, or just a picnic or mince and tatties - Will do it mostly myself and with 3 chef chums (its a no brainer who's helping on the day) need to set a budget once I get a ball park figure of any numbers. (£100-200?) including cake (either HM by me or may ask a chum). Glasses, cutlery etc borrowed (FREE)
Frocks - ? - if indeed there are frocks - I have on which will be OK, DD will need something (£50ish) or we will borrow but I think she needs something nice for her.
Any flowers if we have any - free - you can't surely know this many gardeners and buy flowers? May grow some specially
Kilts - ? hire of which starts at 29 each (DS and OH) (58) TBH I am more inclined to do a 'come as you are' thing - BUT OH is now being a big girl about it all wanting to dress up. (LOL)
Wellies - DD has requested a new pair (5-15)
Rings - seen what I want in silver for both of us £50
Holiday house is the biggest expense - ball park between 350-550 but negotiating that we can hold a gathering there and don't therefore need to hire anything - or will actually no bother and just do a pitch up tent (marquee) in the forest and have our picnic there. (TBH if I thought we'd get the weather I would just set up darwin and a pile of tents and have welliefest as a hippy type outdoor event festival!)
Music - free we know many musicians - so - they will be helping if we even have a doo - had some offers alreadyDD offered to play her cello (bless!) then she offered the jaws music (LOL) also MP3
One of my best pals hubby's is a magician and has offered to keep the troups happy at random during event, grub etc for FREE
Photos may put DS to use with my digital slr FREE
Trying to set a ball park budget - wanted to get it all sorted for under £1k but combining it with a holiday makes it more expensive, identified costs at the mo £1258 perhaps £1.5k is more realisitic when there's a weeks holiday as well.
Maybe I take the holiday bit out of the welliefest budget but as we need to go on holiday to do this then maybe its easier to leave it in?
I want this to be a money neutral event - so am planning on raising the lot via ebay/quidco/extra work/ for the stuff that really needs cold hard cash and by donations of time/food etc (I am not particularily proud) for the rest of it. And by bartering some of my services (gardening/cooking) for other folks time.
Food wise - I am thinking of using BOGOFS, deals etc and reduced stickered food etc to make the buffet stuff. I ALREADY HAVE ABOUT £100 in tesco vouchers/gift cards from people staying over last year - so I need to work on using those productively to expand their worth. Once we start a definate date I will clear out the freezer in the garage and designate it and put up an extra stripey sock shop shelf for 'wellie-fest 2010'

My OH wore a kilt to a wedding once. Let's just say I liked it quite a lotA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thats dead impressive! Well done you - and I *love* the sound of the welliefest even more....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Re cards - they can be as cheap or as expensive as you like in reality. It's just time which always make things like that a labour of love. Plus if you enjoy doing that sort of stuff you don't mind. How many are you thinking that you'll need?0
