I could be nigella - except a smaller red headed version

Does that mean I have to be very silly with food

Willow baking away at 100 degrees - leave for 4 days then remove from oven allow to cool and then use on an open fire.

It means you have to put on a red dressing gown and eat sensually out of the fridge at all hours :rotfl:

For the rest of the time, Gold Lam! bikini & stripey socks is SUCH a now look :T
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Well done on Hairy loan BTW Fay - You definitely need to pay at least another £4 off though to get it below the £800 barrier....7 is a much nicer number! :D

    Hey Fay

Just catching up on your diary.

Lovely story about your friend, she was a true friend indeed. There are some friends who know just the right thing to do in your hour of need and they are priceless.

I am a big stripes fan although don't own any stripy socks - (well some grey and white ones but that doesn't seem colourful enough!!) I must invest in some asap.

I am somewhat confused about the cooking of the willow. If you have to cook it in order to make firewood it seems a bit like you are expending more heating fuel than actually gaining if you see what I mean? However I've probably got confused as am definitely as far from a horticulturist as you could probably get!!!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Hi Make up - sorry I was being ironic by saying cook it then burn it. (athough alot of the samples once finihsed with DO seem to end up in my firebasket - dunno how that happens!)

Dont worry you aren't going insane. I only cook the willow I am sampling to get more data about how much water is in it etc. so when its dry and its weighed we can work out the energy in it for burning. This isn't done in real life when you do use the crop - just in science - and it would be much easier to just wring it out - but somehow or other - that doesnt work.
Nor does hanging it on the washing line - can't seem to get the pegs to hold it up for too long. :)

Willow is supposed to have an energy ratio of 20:1 - ie for every 20 parts of energy you get - you only put in (by means of fertilisers, machinery etc 1 part) so its pretty impressive and its almost carbon neutral as a fuel

Unless of course some numpty like me flicks a switch and dries it using electricity first :)

    Aaah, all clear now.

Sorry for not getting irony...honest guv in real life I am a genuine sarcastic / ironical type person.....(was going to type something both ironic and clever to prove this but sadly have come up with nothing!)

(does this mean we can burn cricket bats now as source of valuable energy???)
