We took it out with Asda Finance, underwritten by Legal and General. . .we changed because we a) relocated from the other side of the country and b) got a cheaper quote for the year (was about £50 cheaper)0

Legal and General are a very good company for claims, sometimes I find Crawfords delay things so if you think this is happening don't be scared to ring Legal and General direct. They will do their utmost to sort it out as they are genuinly proud of their claims service. I used to do this a fair bit as Crawfords can drag their heels a bit mainly on burgalary claims0

My OH has contacted Legal and General as I'm just getting upset over it all and someone's looking into things for us. Hopefully have it sorted soon, thanks again dacouch0

Birmingham is where CFS (Crawford Fraud Solutions) are based. What number have you been given to call?0

The number we've got is 0870 400 0463 and says it's the Legal and General division of Crawford and Co0

The Legal and General division of Crawford and Co sounds like its a Department within Crawfords that handles L&G. I meant if you think your having problems bypass Crawfords and speak to someone directly at L&G. I have not used them for a while due to a change of employee but have found their "First Report Number" which is 0370 900 5565. However this number is likely to be very busy at the moment due to the weather so it might take a while to get through to them0 -
Hi again dacouch,
Sorry, I think a couple of threads got crossed. I called Legal & General directly after your advice this afternoon and their complaint department has contacted Crawford and Co to try and move things along, the chap at Legal and General is calling my OH back tomorrow . . . .
Flamecloud asked what number I had for Crawford and Co re: the type of investigations that the department carries out (I think). . . . looking back at it, I've obviously taken it a bit personally and gotten a bit paranoid that "they're all out to rip you off" kinda deal and that coupled with a previous forum that said Crawford's Birmingham office is the place where they investigate fraud . . . . I hope I've got the wrong end of the stick anyway because the notion that we're being investigated for fraud makes me feel sick!0 -
Great, I think you will find they will get matters sorted out a fair bit quicker for you0

Hope so, we've been "homeless" for nearly one month now and only just got the alternative accommodation authorised last week. Got to say, I feel more confident now that Legal and General are involved, will no doubt be back for more advice should things not get any better. Thanks again dacouch.0

When you speak to L&G advise them you were not allocated alternative accomadation for a few weeks. They would normally get you in accomadation the same day or next day. If you are polite but pushy they will probably get Crawfords to give you an exgratia payment. Alternatively hold fire on that arguement and hold it back if you need leverage on another part of the claim eg you are not happy with the shops they want you to use to replace the contents.0
