RBS bankers in line for millions of pounds worth of bonuses

Nor would they without our money.......No, because you don't have a contract with it written in.0 -
This is just breathtaking - I don't think these people realise that the world is changed.
The article talks about people leaving if they don't get bonuses - well let them in the current climate! There are loads of candidates just itching for jobs, who knows, maybe Generali would wind his way back into the working world

I think the bonuses should be paid in a new type of share class and not cash. Staff should not be able to sell any shares until the taxpayer gets every penny back.0

Credit Suisse paid bonuses in the form of toxic assets last time around, I believe.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
I could point out that the vast majority of those receiving a bonus, won't have had anything to do with the huge losses made by RBS, and will be hardworking, skilled and professional, who have done a good job for the Bank and it's shareholders..............but I won't bother, as it won't appease the 'baying hounds' out for blood one little bit !!!!
I worked hard for the past 12 months for the bank and what do I get? Sweet FA. I've made money for the bank.Kavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

You got your salary for working 'hard'. If you worked for RBS then you worked it to bankruptcy.
Regardless of the contracts etc, RBS is insolvent. Why would they need billions otherwise ? The media are going to spin this till the public start to riot, which isnt a bad idea really.0 -
I'm getting worried about this Forum !!!
Less than 18 'rants' on a subject like this
Not good enough 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I am fine with paying these traders with as much as they want in bonuses. In shares. Worthless now, but if they are so clever they'll be able to recover the share price and their worth, won't they?0

I think its unfair picking on bankers when there are Italian workers coming to the UK and er working.0

Were it a business like its peers on the stock exchange that has to operate in the 'real world' this badly run failure of an organisation wouldn't be around to pay bonuses.
Instead, it has received tens of billions of pounds of public cash to make good its disastrous bets.
what !!!!!! is missing and obviously doesn't understand is that these traders that he keeps on moaning about would very, very rarely receive these bonuses in their normal pay packets as cash in their bank accounts.
why would you want £1 million paid to you and have to pay tax at 40% so £400,000. it just doesn't work like that. they are usually paid in share options or even contributions to pensions as this is the most tax efficient way to get paid.
it would be one very stupid person to want to get paid and have to pay that much tax.
next non-story please...0
