The prochem solvall stuff is specialist cleaning gunk so is probably stupidly expensive - My mum is familiar with the caretaker at the local school so she went and asked him to borrow something to get it off. Might be worth asking at your daughter's school - they'll be well practised in removing blu tack and chewing gum type stains.

Definitely try the citrus stain remover first though - get as much as you can off with a blunt knife before you start.

As it's similar to chewing gum, it might be worth holding an ice cube (in cloth or paper so you don't wet the carpet) over it, then trying to chip bits off.

I know WD40 works on stubborn Blutack on walls, but that doesn't help on carpet.

Ice - make some cubes/grap a bag of frozen veg from the freezer. Hold them on the blue tack to harden it and then the majority will pick out. Then use a suade brush to remove the remaining...

Get some brown paper and place that over the top and try ironing it with a warm iron. That's what I do with chewing gum and most of that usually comes off/out.

astonishing, this does actually work, just tried it on BT trodden into the carpet by the kids and it came out in 10 mins or so...
  • Amazed olive oil really did work.. took a really old (5 years plus) and large blue tack mark out of my sons bedroom carpet in less than 5 minutes :)
  • Had this problem with a similar product to blu-tack - the green one.

Ice does not work. With chewing gum it makes it brittle. Doesn't do it with this stuff. Maybe needs to be colder. Maybe dry ice would work - who knows. Hair dryer does not work. The product does not get noticeably runnier.

This worked. White spirit on kitchen roll. Give it a good rub. Product disappears (as with any solvent, you may wish to colour test on a small hidden area of carpet - I had no issue with colour run). Now you have smelly white spirit on your carpet. Immediately wash with soapy water (I have a Vax wet and dry and was able to immediately whoosh the area with that, but by hand should work too, if slower).
