Any suggestions of good ways to try and remove this??
Thanks

Pick as much off with your fingers or a knife, then dab with lighter fuel (ie cigarette lighter) be careful as it can cause damage so might be worth testing a hidden area first. Make sure you rinse well after.

Treat it the same as if it was chewing gum.

Heat with hair dryer set on high for between 30 and 90 seconds (keep dryer at least 6" away from carpet as some fibres may melt), then using pieces of plastic from something like a sandwich bag, pick up as much as possible.
Reheat the blue tack again and repeat the process several times.
If you have anything like 'deep heat' muscle rub, work a little of it into the blue tack as it helps to break down the bond with the carpet.
Next blot the carpet with 1 teaspoon of washing-up liquid mixed with 1 cup of warm water and then dab up with a white cloth (toweling is best).

It is a bit long winded but worth the effort.

P.S. A quicker but less effective way is to freeze it with an ice cube and 'chip away' at it.

Have you tried using blue tack to remove it. Even old dried up blue tack on walls will come off if you use a new piece of blue tack on it.

I had blue tack stuck in the carpet years ago,i tried everything to remove it.In the end i gave the carpet a haircut and thankfully you couldnt notice where i snipped away.
  • Help, please! Just been cleaning dd's room. She recently got some posters and used blutack to hang them on the walls. While cleaning I have come across some blutack which is well and truly trodden into the carpet. Does anyone know of a way to get this mess out??

    Thanks.

The website recommends using a citrus based cleaner, but the only way to get real results I find is with a product called sovall spotter.
  • Thanks very much for that and pardon my ignorance please - but what is sovall spotter, where would I get it and how much does it cost roughly? Just found another spot on the staircase carpet so it looks as though I definitely need it!

If the carpet is a thick sort of one I have in the past carefully cut the bits out and ruffled the pile up :o
  • No, unfortunately the carpet doesn't have a deep pile so it would be very noticeable. I wonder if Mr Muscle Orange Action would work on it? Frightened to try in daughter's room as the blutack is in quite a noticeable place. Maybe I will give it a try on the staircase first.
