Mobile Contract nad Haggling

Hi,

I have read the advice on hagling on mobile phone contracts however, mine is more of a specific case.

Currently I have 200 minutes any network anytime and 400 messages on the O2 online 25 texter. I got it through a friend who works for them so get a reasonable discount per month (typically £17 to £20 dependant on numbers called).

Out of those minutes (taken from Decembers Bill when I would pressume to use the most) I used 128 minutes and 126 texts. Clearly I am not using my contract to its full extent and therefore could say wasting money.

However, I am paying quite a small amount and afraid that I may not be able to haggle as I am already on a friends and family discount.

Any advice would be handy

At that low use rate I would consider perhaps going on PAYG or a very low SIM only deal- PAYG would be better for such low useage, on O2 as you get treats that would top up your minutes every month.

Vodafone do a low end SIM only deal for 10 quid a month, I believe that a 200/200 deal would cost no more than 15 quid a month on SIM if you decided to go that way.
  • If you want to stay with O2 their Online 10 Sim only is £9.79 per month for

    300 texts / 150 mins

this is a 30 day rolling contract and you can choose to add on extras if you want for £7.34pm each.

I think monthly sims are the way to go. Nobody wants to be tied into a long contract these days do they?

All sound like good plans, however after looking at some options the thought of an Ipod/Xbox is quite hard to resist (although a 24 month contract)

However, I would only be paying £16 to £18 a month. Food for thought

    Thanks for the advice
