Small Biz. Cheap/free Advertising Ideas please?

My husband and myself have a small business.

I was just wondering if you have any little ideas for cheap/free advertising please.

My husband was chatting with a customer last week. And he gave him a good idea. He said to post a Pic of his Business Card on Ebay, and sell it on there for 10p. Obviously he doesn't want to sell the Business Card, or doesn't mind selling it, he is really advertising his business.

My husband has also asked me to put his Card on the Notice Board in the local supermarkets (if they allow me, I haven't asked them yet).

Any ideas would be appreciated.
I know this might seem like a strange question/thread, but other readers might hopefully find it useful, as well as myself.

Thankyou :)

    Thanks for your reply mercman1969.

Our line of work is Carpet Fitting. We fit, and supply carpets.
My other half, has a rare talent. He also repairs Carpets. He has done a search online, and I think there is only 2 or 3 companies that do repairs.
So, therefore, we are pleased that he has a talent, and people from all over the Uk are ringing and e-mailing him. We live in the midlands, and obviously would prefer to advertise locally, and get local work, if possible. He doesn't mind travelling up north and down south, or anywhere, but preferably, it would be nicer to work in the local area, as to save money on petrol, and save time etc etc.

    Hope that's enough info.
    Thankyou very much :)
  • Debbie,

You could try placing a commercial ad (FREE) on gumtree
Another very good way is to get some fliers/business cards printed up and use some shoe leather and ask fellow shop owners if they wouldnt mind displaying some of your stuff

If you PM me, I will also give you a link to somewhere you might find useful

    Regards

    Pete

Thankyou melmar. Good luck to you too :)

I've had a look at Gumtree and it looks very good, and saved it to Favourites. There is a Section on the right hand side, allocated to each town/city. Looks very useful indeed :T

    Thanks bordercars.

My husband has signed up with Google at the start of January, if you do a search for Carpet Repairs, his biz is the 2nd one mentioned, and he has also attached a photo of his website on the left hand side of his advert, so his biz sticks out, more than the others. I think it's free with the Google, for the first month, well except for £5 admin to set it up. It should cost £50 for the month, but it's free, then you have to pay after that month, if you wish to continue advertising.
