People really like the look of a round sink when they come to view houses. I lived with one years ago when we had a little flat and yes it was totally impractical because it was the only washing vessel but the people viewing really liked it and the EA even called it a 'feature round sink' :rotfl:
Our last house we had a dishwasher and a regular sink in the utility and a round bowl in the kitchen and it was fine - it was pretty much only used for filling the kettle and washing the worktops. We had another shallow round sink for use as a drainer but it literally never got used at all. You can get a nice round sink for a decent price too. Do it!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We've got a seperate round sink and drainer and they're a pain in the backside. Even worse for us because we've got wooden worktops (none of this was my choice by the way!). I'd advise against them, it'd be made better if you had a dishwasher but even so, just washing a cup here and there will leave your worktops needing a wipe. I want mine changed out asap but can't afford it. Oh and one practical point, it's hard to get a round dish drainer. Ikea don't do them round our way, Lakeland do but they're £15"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

We have a rectangular sink and a half and combined drainer. One of the advantages of a rectangular sink is that you can out a plastic bowl into it. This I do if I am peeling potatoes etc. It is convenient to just lift out the bowl with the peelings and go down the garden to the compost heap. We have to be very careful not to get the waste pipe blocked as it is very difficult to get it clear. It did block once and I am not eager to go through the same trouble we had clearing it again. I have just thought, presumably you can get round bowls as well.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
We've got a round sink (our choice!) and we hate it! Too small for washing large items and the water goes everywhere.
As for a dishrack we eventualy found a small square one in B&Q which fits the drainer, but still not much room.0 -
I have a small round sink in the utility room with the tap fitted into the worktop, great for in there with its limited worktop space (in fact I originally bought a sink with drainer but changed it due to the limited worktop space - I knew we would end up using the drainer as a worktop), but I wouldn't swap my belfast sink for anything in my kitchen!
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Another vote against!
I have a round sink and shallow draining area, and they are too small to fit items that need to be soaked. Also it's quite difficult to get round drainers (the wire mesh things) to sit on top. The sinks take up just as much space as a rectangular shaped sink but, as the two bits have a strip of worktop between, there is a lot of opportunity for water ingress to damage the worktop. :mad:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
