i got some halogen bulbs from teso last week - i think they are 60watt not quite as low energy as the regular low energy ones , but they give of a much nicer light and more of it , can't remember who made them
  • Don't buy 11w bulbs, they aren't bright enough for most applications.

Buy the 20w (eq. 100w) bulbs, and they will be fine.

I use these, because the quality of light energy savers give off is awful.
They are made by GE, and look like car headlight bulbs in normal bulb shape.

100w = 75w, instead of 20w with full energy saving, but the light quality is far better.

    If they're 240 volt then they're called 'GU10's. Try googling for +gu10 +"energy saving"
You can get LED versions but they're not cheap!

For LED's are they just same shape bulbs or would you need to replace whole light fitting?

They are the same fitting. I tried some of them, they were 1W ones I think, not very bright at all and a bluish light.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.
