Damn!! Dropped my projector!!

I just bought a projector a couple of weeks ago and put it onto my home contents insurance.
Problem is, after having it all set up and wired and working, I took it down today to paint the ceiling to cover the installation. But, when I've taken it down, it slid out my hands about 6" from the ground and I've smashed the projector tubes.
After many serious expletives, I went to look out the receipt to do a claim, but I can't find it! Worst still, I paid in cash so don't have the debit card reciept either.
Do you think I'm best writing this off or will the insurance company still accept my claim?

I doubt this will work as the insurance loss adjuster will just flat reject it, so don't even try it. Your best off going to the shop to get a repeat receipt, they may charge you for it. If you know when you purchased it you should be ok as stores have a legal requirement to keep records of transactions. You should take the serial number make and model with you when going to the store or maybe the product as well to prove you purchased it.0

May be i'm missing something here presumably you still have the damaged item its not as though you need to prove it exists you just need to demonstrate that it has been damaged and get a quote to repair or replace.
nb have you accidental damage cover for this item if not then that is the most likely reason for the claim being declined0 -
if you have insurance for accidental damage in your home you would not have had to "put it onto your insurance" it would have been covered automatically as it was part of your contents.
i agree with the other posts -make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It would depend on the value as it might be above the single item limit of a policy.
People should also note that the OP was over 2 years ago- so I'd imagine that it has been sorted by now!0 -
seriously why would someone open a post 2 years old?!?!0
