i recieve wtc & ctc with disabled premium for a young child which also includes the high element, dla high rate car and dla low mobility our postcode has had payouts so why have we not, i found this and this states we should be entitalled

    Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment for each week of very cold weather in your area if you get Pension Credit.
You may also be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment for each qualifying week if you are getting Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and have a child under five or get one of the following:
    • a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium
    • a disability premium or severe disability premium
    • a disabled child premium
    • Child Tax Credit that includes an individual element for a child or qualifying young person who is disabled or severely disabled

Hi - I phoned the IS office yesterday to ask about the cold weather payment as we have never received one. They did not have on their records that we have 2 disabled children - only that we have children. The lady I spoke to has now emailed the relevant department so that any cold weather payments due are triggered for us. However, she told me that it wouldn't automatically be triggered in future and I would have to rely on my neighbours (who get the cold weather payment) telling me they've got one & would then have to phone in again!

    How ridiculous is that?

Also, I had no idea we would be entitled to a £60 bonus so thank you MSE members for this info - I shall look out for this now :)

Just checked our bank account and we now have a £25 cold weather payment! Whether this is just coincidence or the IS office being very efficient I don't know!

I've also just phoned CA about the Xmas bonus and have been informed it will be paid in March - they have been paying out at different times - so wait till the end of March before contacting them again :)

  • I've just spoken to my JCP.

They said you need to meed the first qualifying criteria first, which is the pension credit, job seeker's allowance or income support. If you meet one of those, then you look at the second set of criteria.

So even though I receive ctc with the highest premium for severely disabled child, and for ctc purposes my income is £0 I do not qualify.

    Oh well!
