I have recently signed up to sky after having there broadband in another place, didnt have 1 problem. now ive moved to a new place and the phone socket is in the hall the line was dead and the bt engineer installed an extention at the opposite wall next to a power point however the extention is draining my internet speed and my land line has alot of interference so what i wanna do is take that extention of and use the main socket but the only problem is the powerpoint for the modem power and the cordless phone socket, anyone got any ideas?

Can't you just temporarily run a power extension from the point on the opposite wall to near the master socket then plug the router into the BT test socket and the power extension? This should determine whether your problem is the BT line itself or the extension. Any 'phone plugged into the extension will however not work once the front of the master socket has been removed.
I must confess though as to not fully understanding what is going on here with dead lines, line interference, router/handset conflict etc.0 -
If an extension is making the line noisy, it could be that you need to remove the bell wire, see http://www.thinkbroadband.com/faq/sections/radsl.html#235 for more details0
