Cavity wall insulation

Am thinking about having cavity wall insulation installed, we seem to qualify for a grant, possibly 100 percent if I am reading the various options correctly. If any moneysavers have had this work done I would really like to know if it has had an impact on your heating bills, the various literature I have seen make claims of possible 40 percent savings per annum. Also any problems, ie dampness in walls or any other post installation problems that you may have experienced. Is it as good as it all sounds in the sales literature?
Would appreciate any help and advice on this subject,
Thanks very much

I had a warm start (?) grant and had my loft insulation, and cavity wall insulation done in the summer, although i havnt had any bills yet, i know we have definatly benefited from having it done. The house warms up much quicker now, and ive been able to turn the temp down on the thermostat, and turn the heating off a lot more than previous winters. I am expecting the gas bill to be lower this winter (fingers crossed!!!)0

I had cavity wall insulation done last year on a grant scheme, whilst it has lowered the need for heating a little bit it certainly hasn't benefitted me.
I live in an ex council concrete house and have since been told that the cavity wall insulation will only speed up decomposition of the supports to my house and that the company who fitted it shouldn't have!!!! :eek:Trying to save money to move to France.....eventually!
£2 savers club = £24 saved so far :T0 -
