I'm sorry, that's just too unbelievable. I can never imagine a Barrister and a Scouser getting together. :p

I can, think father in law, think Alf Garnett......................make the connection.

I wonder if NDG's sunny disposition coupled with commitment to her family and job, might be something to do with her family upbringing?

Perhaps she has made a new year's resolution to spend more time with her family and less time with MSE - hence the seeming conversion to lurking.
(I regularly make such a resolution but regularly get re-addicted:rolleyes: should be preparing a customer's estimate at this moment:o)

PS Some people find this part of the forum too painful to dare to post on it:eek:
I got beaten up by a regular poster, admittedly in response to a not very well thought out posting, and it still gripes. My initial reaction was to wade back in all guns blazing, but then I noticed the day of the week and the time of the day and decided C2H5(OH) might have been talking, plus a conflict between the fight and flight hormones in the poster.

For clairification, it meant I thought your choice of subject matter was inappropriate for a joke.

I understand that carol that it is why I picked your statement of leaving and even put that the threat was out of order.

your threat to leave the board was the subject of my post. Not the threat to NDG.

Yes as I recall NDG had a threatening pm some weeks ago. It was a nasty racist attack on a lady that I admire. I do hope she returns soon.

I had some very nasty pms however the style has lead me to think it was from someone who does unconventional things with an umbrella.

Is that some type of cryptic code for us to derive a possible username from?

I think Pobby's thinking along the lines of Bruno rather than Rihanna. Try putting Bruno umbrella into google, but only do so if you've got Pepto Bismol on standby or a particularly cast iron stomach.

I hate to give the prize to the most metrosexual bloke (cos there's loads of you) but Davesnave was a perfect example...almost text book...and nearly 60, I believe...rare. He's not been about much either. I loved his posts and writing style.

Err....well...thank you. I'm honoured, I think! However, there are a number of different 'understandings' with regard to this term:

    http://www.metro-sexual.co.uk/articles/metrosexual-or-bust/153

Regrettably, I don't really fit the bill as regards the male grooming bit, whichever way I look at it. With the exception of personal cleanliness, I know DW would say 'could do better' in all areas. She'd be right too.

But, yes, I'm not a 'blokey bloke,' as Ben Elton would say. My feminine side has probably just been accentuated by working mainly among female colleagues for the last 35 years. Also, caring for around thirty 8-11 year olds for most of that time is hardly a macho activity....

Anyway, thanks for missing me. We've STR'd and I've been off line for a couple of weeks. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived here was the lack of NDG, so I'll add my voice to those who've already said they miss her succinct and balanced comments, not to mention the 'thanks.'

PS. Yes, got the B&Q over 60s card last week. Was slightly miffed that the lady dealing with it didn't ask for any proof either!
