I missed all this - poor NDG. Ive never had any horrible PM's - well, shouldn't speak too soon - but have had some horrible (lots and lots actually) highly personal, frequently (for some reason) sexualised attacks on me on the board. Women -particularly those identifiable as such from their names - do often seem to attract a certain type of internet nutter, who clearly has never met a real woman in real life and so has to get his rather sad kicks out of insulting strangers he thinks are female, online.

Maybe I should have gone for the anonymity of gender-neutral usernames like fc123, or PasturesNew - much safer.

There are some dodgy folks out there.

I certainly - as one poster put it - 'got the hump' and disppeared for several weeks, not planning to return, after a string of hateful attacks.

What brought me back was a thread like this in my honour, making me feel that the lunatics hadn't quite taken over the asylum yet.

Maybe NDG will read this and return...or at least smile.

I missed it too. Can someone please name, or PM me with the name of the offending person who posted nasty comments about NDG so we know who is responsible?

If they are a regular, I would hope that they would be big and ugly enough to come on here, admit that they made a mistake, apologise and ask NDG to come back in person.

It went way beyond that - no mistake... just a very nasty pm. I did have the username of the sender, as she told us, and it wasn't a brand-new joiner, but someone who joined in 2006 or 2007... but I've since forgotten the name.

I miss NDG. A great mind of information, her posts so calm and composed - her legal training no doubt. And she thanks me on quite a few posts where I go over-the-top, where I doubt she fully agrees with me, but can obviously sense the damage done to me by the massive HPI divide.
