  • Hi Just wondered how to find out whether my wireless is secured? I don't put a password each time I log on - is this risky? Many thanks

Dependent upon you PCs OS......Click on Connect To, then Wireless Network Connections then View Wireless Networks.

It show you there what network you are connected to, and also whether or not its secured.

  • Phone these idiot debt collectors and say the only movie you ever downloaded was Citizen Kane.

That way they won't know you're spelling the title with two capital C's.
  • I got another letter today stating:

"The balance has occured due to a failed credit card or debit payment.
In view of the above, the outstanding balance of £8.98 is correct and remains payable to ourselves."

What do I do now? Should I write and ask for proof?

    Thanks.

I thought the debt recovery business was booming. Apparently not, if they are chasing a debt of £8.98 !

Personally, if there was a possibility that it might be valid, and I didn't have the records to prove either way, then I'd pay it. It would take more than £8.98's worth of my time to defend against it.

It sounds like you think there is a possibility it's valid, but then again it's originating from Red Hot whom you have not had dealing with (or so you claim!).

Or maybe someone's inventing minor debts to "embarrassing" companies in the hope that a small number of people will pay. An age-old scheme.

Whatever you do, if you pay up, make sure it costs them more than £8.98 to collect.

    Have a look at this

For "The Loan Company" substitute "Red Hot"
Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.
  • I used to work for wescott for about 2 months (I'm sorry it was awful and something I am deeply ashamed of but was desperate for the money). State that the debt is in dispute, they have to put the collection on hold until the dispute is resolved. Contact Red Hot and ask for a detailed explaination of what the debt is for. Im sure they used to write it off if it was for less then a tenner when I worked there, must be struggling
