Orange 0800 does incur charge

http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/orangecont.htm

From 1st December 2005, Orange now charge for voice calls to 0800 numbers. Data calls to 0800 numbers are also charged for.

Does anyone know if any other networks offer the freephone number 0800 for well free lol.

Nearly signed up for Orange contract as info suggested that 0800 was nothing on Orange contracts but this is wrong...

Thanks

  • I think you'll find all the networks charge for 0800 numbers now, which is a shame - also they will not set them against any free minutes ........

O2 DO allow 0800 see below

Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.
Inclusive minutes cannot be used to call numbers with the 0871 prefix. These calls will be charged at 35p per minute at all times.

Is there a point to being able to use 0800 from inclusive minutes other than say calling overseas?

    Yes there is.

You may actually need to call an 0800/0808 number, which would otherwise be chargeable if it was not inclusive within the bundle.
