anyone else had this problem with a nokia?

hi all,
my 6230 is broke again
this time it goes from full battery, to low battery (1 bar with the low battery warnings), after a short call, and then over about an hour or so, restores itself to what it should be.
whats that all about
had this problem before with a 6230 and also with a 3410, someone at a repair centre said it was software (when i had the 3410), voda customer services said it was battery- either way it has to go back to voda.
i don't send them back to the voda store (where i got my contract from) anymore cos they are liars and treat customers like they are stupid.

does anyone know which it is, it was supplied by voda reconditioned in the summer (previous 2 6230s broke as well), and is running software version 5.35
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

have you checked the battery connection as sometimes you just have to clean the little metal terminal things in the phone as they get dirty or bent..other than that if your nokia is under warranty you can get the firmware upgraded for free at the carphone warehouse even if you did not buy it from there- did it myself recently you just need proof of warranty. find a carphone warehouse with a nokia service centre in, they do it in a few hours, i went shopping after id stuck mine in, just make sure youve backed up your sim first as firmware upgrade deletes all your numbers, pics etc.
Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.
  • Sounds like battery problems either your battery is not holding charge when you place a call and the current demand increases or like pumpa says you may have dirty or bent contacts.
  • today it switched itself off despite having 2/3rds of the battery life :confused

i cant take it to carphone warehouse because the only thing i have is my network signup stuff which is over a year old- i had the 1st one exhanged at the voda store and the second by voda direct (long story), and no carphone warehouse round here has those facilities :(

unfortunatly, i was a victim of voda's fetish (dont know if that is the right word?) for putting people on 18 month contracts in late 04 (signed up oct 04), phoned them yesterday and the only way i can get a different phone is to exchange for another recon 6230 (which is what this is) which will mean i am on number 4 :eek

i spoke to them about swapping for a different model and they said i would have to upgrade- trouble is i have no bankcard at the mo (lost it last week and waiting for a new one from the bank) and an upgrade would probably be £100+ :eek
