My boiler is not working. It has had two replacement motorised pump valve controllers. The system is 5 and a bit years old.
Symptoms prior to ceasing, the pump would run on after boiler went out after a burn and stick in this cycle until reset. It operated like this for two years but now won't even light, it will spark the auto ignition but not light up.
Any ideas what is wrong? As its a right pain as it !!!!!! cold now. Not worked for about 3 months now.
What would the likely repair costs be?
Thanks in advance.

Had this problem on another boiler, not Potterton, and the pilot solenoid valve had failed so no pilot gas. Main gas valve had two solenoids, one for pilot and one for burner. The solenoids can be checked with a multi-meter. If a solenoid has failed it means replacing the gas valve. Cost of valve about £100.Cumbrian_Male wrote:My boiler is not working. Fact that you can see the ignition spark is pointing to this.
Alternatively it could be the control board not powering the solenoid. This can also be checked with a multi-meter.
Wouldn't think that the pilot and pump problems are connected.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0 -

Our Potterton Suprema did this and it was the circuit board/control panel - apparently there is a known general fault in this type of boiler. Ours was about 4 years old when it happened. I cost about £300 to have replaced & fitted by a CORGI guy. Has been absolutely fine since (about 12 months ago)
