As I said, nortons still running

So uninstall using the tool (As ive no idea what youve done!)
    http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

    Reboot

Then if your happy to use it, reinstall it (ANd post a fresh hijack log to make sure its ok)

But if you want free programs, just ask :)

Thanks aliEnRIK I uninstalled Norton today and then reinstalled it but my laptop was very slow so uninstalled it again this evening. The norton showing on the log is the reinstalled norton. I've always used Norton purely out of habit but don't know if it's the best thing to use. My knowledge is very limited as I'm sure you can tell. Sorry to be so dim:o

I find it slows my laptop down but it's like my security blanket, when i take it away I expect everything to go haywire, i'm having a mild panic attack at the moment cause I've taken it off:p

    So its no longer on?

If so download and install ~
Download AVIRA ANTI VIRUS PERSONAL (Top right)
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

Download PC TOOLS FIREWALL (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
    http://www.download.com/PC-Tools-Firewall-Plus-Free-Edition/3000-10435_4-10625321.html

Using the above along with the odd malwarebytes and superantispyware scan should suffice for most problems

    Id also advise SPYBOT
    Download SPYBOT (Top right)
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/
UPDATE and IMMUNISE (Make sure it reads ZERO unprotected) and SCAN
Spybots immunise feature stops certain nasties at the source
