O2 broadband connection dates...

been given a provisional date of 11/2/09, but is it possible to have it connected sooner, am already with Sky and O2 have my MAC code, have just heard some people say that on occasions with switchover there have been connections as quickly as 2/3 days.... desperate to get changed to O2 so that my bills with Sky are completely over with this month...
